Nao quero me prender a tecnicas, estilos, materiais.

Minha pagina nao eh artistica, nao usa materiais incriveis, nem tecnicas mirabolantes "The pen in my hand ending unplanned".... Ate eh feia, pra falar a verdade mas... who cares?

Live your life with arms wide open, today is where your book begins...

Um feliz 2011 para voce!!

Beijos,

Carla

A new year is the moment we wait to start a lot of things. Lately I've been thinking about things I like and don't in styles, design, clothes, home decor, scrapbooking... While planning the projects for the Christmas Workshop, I realized that what I really like is the simplicity on everything, clean spaces, focal points. I gave up on trying to follow some tendences or styles I really don't like to work with, even liking them. It is like loving to eat and hating to cook, if you know what I mean.
But how to keep it simple and at the same time, play with my art supplies?
Of course I can use them on my "simple" style. But at the same time, I have decided to accept a challenge posted by the incredible Julie Balzer, and play with my supplies without rules, without thinking too much, on a creative exercise without the obligation of a wonderful final result, without the obligation of techniques. I have decided to start an art journal. I'm going to play a little there, to unload my "creative anxiety".

I've chose a nice size of journal, half of a letter size - not too much space, but a little space. Something I can finish quickly, near the computer without to much hassle. A thought, a song, or just doodling... no rules. The art journal is more focused on my feelings, different from my sketch book.
Julie's challenge call for a page a day... I hope I can do it!
For the 1.1.11 (what a beautiful number!!) I started with a song I've heard and I think it's perfect to define a brand new year: a new book, full of blank pages, starting today.
It's not an artistic page, doesn't use incredible supplies or amazing techniques - "The pen in my hand ending unplanned"... Just trace, watercolor and pen (black and white) - (it's ugly, in fact, but...who cares?) with the lyrics from "Unwritten" by Natasha Bedingfield
Just posting to register my participation on the Art Journal Everyday.
Live your life with arms wide open, today is where your book begins...
Happy new Year!!!

XX

Amei o resultado, com excecao do "to be your", minha mao estava muito dura mesmo.

During the Brazil Scrapbooking trade show last October, (when I was in Brazil), I was invited to be a guest at Daisy Vilela's blog.

This is my page.

During the birthday card swap at ScrapbookBrasil I realized how much I love making cards. As in all my projects - bookbinding, scrapbook pages - I don't like adding too much products or using too many techniques in just one piece - I don't blame who does, but I really don't. I love white spaces and just a few elements.
But at the same time, gluing paper on paper and adding sentiments can be too simple.

Entao, a imagem de hoje eh do "after work in progress"... :))

Carla

I know I promised pictures of my Work in Progress, but the work this week was so intense I couldn't show the progress!
This week we have started ScrapClass Christmas Workshop - it has been a great success and I'm very happy about that!
The classes have tons of pictures and videos, which demands post production - resizing pictures, watermarks, video editing, uploads, writing instructions and so on... too much time spent sitting in front of the computer.
Yesterday, after my first class was uploaded, I had a warm and relaxing shower, put on my pj's and socks (love it).

http://scrapclassbrasil.blogspot.com

Aproveite e veja como participar do sorteio destes caderninhos fofos!

Carla

I know, I know... the blog is abandoned... but I had two good reasons for that!

On October we had to flight to Brazil to renew our visa - we were expecting this trip, but had to wait for some official papers - but the consulate in Brazil only had schedule for December.

Since I was a little girl i love to draw. I still remember the smell of the brand new pencil and eraser my mom bought me when I was going to have some classes with a neighbor, a student of Fine Arts. I also remember how happy I was everytime I went to her apartment, because there was "My Art School". It was 37 or 38 years ago...

Many years after that I went to an Art School and loved it, even having a weird teacher who wanted to teach us how to draw only 50's figures (nowadays so trendy...). The class got mad at him, and I remember changing my schedule. But my whole schedule with college and so was very busy: 2 colleges at the same time - Language Arts (Russian) every morning and Social Communications - Advertisement every night; Art School and also Music (electric keyboard), all of them taking too much time to be done properly, lots of study necessary, projects to be done, and also I wanted a job... I ended giving up the Art School and the Language Arts college :(

Well, back to drawings: even without formal classes, I kept drawing. I used to copy something that I liked and slowly put my style on it. Then, I had an idea about collecting them, even those on weird pieces of paper, on a notebook.

Now I know my little doodles, as least adequate the paper they are on, will never get lost or thrown out.

I know this blog looks abandoned... but I had lots of activities since the last post: a last minute wedding related job for a bride going to Brasil, my son's birthday and graduation, a last minute trip to Brazil for my husband, and other issues that made me feel uncomfortable to come here... thanks God most of them are resolved or in their way. On July, vacations! I had two good friends from Brazil coming to the city, and we had lots of fun. Both also know my dear friend Sandra and we had a great dinner together.

One of them left on the 15th, the other on the 20th, and on the next morning my brother and sister in law arrived at JFK for one week. At the same time, two different groups of friends were in the city... I've never been in NY so many times in just a month, almost everyday!!! I really enjoyed! And it's not over, I only had 10 days to put the house back on track, because last Saturday my in-laws arrived for 15 days here... I'm not sure yet if I'll be able to return to my usual blog routine before September, but in order to say "thank you" for those who didn;t give up :D or unfollow this blog, I leave a small and simple tutorial of a Thank You card I made for my dear neighbor Yoko (she took care of my kids when I was at Inspired). There's no great techniques or materials, but I really liked the final result. I'm missing this space so much...

Thank you Card - Tutorial

1. Cade eu?Despite the abandoned look, this blog is still alive.
A brazilian event company needed somebody local to help them organize a huge event. And out of a sudden, my name came out. A good friend told them about me.
Here am I, getting crazy, working after hours, missing my family (the worst part) for what I never expected happenning to me: being an event planner in NY!
I have experience in event planning back then when I worked in marketing at Telecom companies- trade shows, internal events, conferences - that was my world. But then I was the customer and the planner. It was good. But everything was to "cold": cables, routers, technology at its best.
This time, there's a customer - and not a company - to be pleased: an upscale event, high profile guests, amazing locations and outstanding vendors.
Last minute requests, the best of the best... and I'm proud of myself that these lists have no fail at all. Of course I didn't do everything by myself: I assisted the event planner most of the time, and there's a team working. But something there is good, and it's done because I did. Yes, I can say proudly and with no fear to sound snobish. After so many years out of the market (8), I was afraid. Afraid of failing, afraid of dealing in English, in a city I don't know everything (in Sao Paulo I knew everything!). But I was surprised by myself: years out of the market, but years ahead on experience, just being me.
It's a personal acomplishment. I'm happy that I did. And I'm happy knowing the "backstage" of the city that never sleeps.
The event already started with guests coming from Brazil this week. Coordinating personalized shuttle service for 50+ people. Tapis Rouge at OVO, the new Cirque Du Soleil. Nobel prize winner presentation. Gala dinner. Amazing locations such as The Plaza and the New York Public Library, one of my favorite buildings in Manhattan.
I miss my family, my house is upside down. My 11y/o son told me today: "When will everything finish? I do prefer you at home". I do too, my sweetie. Lucas complained about not being able to play with me. I do miss our night time together, laughing at Everybody Hates Chris. SInce we don't have family around, is harder getting home late at night.
Sometimes is good to be missed. But the best is that I found myself. That part I thought was missed, and I know some people thought it too. The professional. An organized person. A person people rely on. The one who accomplishes.
That was amazing.
I hope I can keep this person by my side, to help myself realize some dreams. And they include not missing my family so much!

......
Save the date! April 30th I'll be at Create Scrapbooks Live, at 12pm EST! Then you have the opportunity to hear my baaaad accent and listen to me making mistakes ! :-)
See you then!
Thank you for passing by!!
xoxo

Carla

Apesar do aspecto abandonado, este blog esta ainda ativo! :)
Mas eu mesma me surpreendi.
Tapis Rouge do espetaculo OVO do Cirque Du Soleil.
A profissional. A pessoa organizada.

beijos!!

CarlaCarla Cavellucci Landihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07158401677258632417noreply@blogger.com24
